KATIE BARRON

My path to art came from working in the tattoo industry in Canada and decided to pursue tattooing as a career.

I started dedicating myself to creating new work end practicing my skills for at least 2 hours every day and what began as a career toward tattooing lead to a career in painting.

Once I began oil painting I never looked back.

Art for me is a way to share the gratitude for things in my life with other people. It's a way to explore interests and play with concepts while sharing the joy of that process.

My favourite art experience would have to be seeing Supersymmetry by Ryoji Ikeda at MONA. I went to MONA having no idea what was inside and that installation stopped me in my tracks. It was one of those beautiful moments you could live in forever.

Sawtooth Ari has supported my career since I moved to Launceston in 2022 and enabled me to reestablish my practice in a new place far away from home.

Having an exhibition with Sawtooth ARI served as a launchpad for further opportunities and connections with new people.
