Travis Bell

Travis Bell is a Launceston based artist and educator, who through his ceramics practice questions the crossroads of balance and fragility and its relationship to material expectations and worth, through the exploration of function as sculpture and the disciplined execution of craft. Completing a  Bachelor of Contemporary Art with Honours at the University of Tasmania, he also during this time studied at the University of Virgininia, USA and the Central University of Tibetan Studies, India. 

Now back at the University of Tasmania as ceramics lecturer in the north, he is also represented by Stockton & Co in Launceston, Handmark Gallery in Hobart, and Pepite in Melbourne. He was an artist in RISE at QVMAG in 2023, was featured in the Journal of Australian Ceramics,  and has had shows in Sawtooth, the Devonport Regional Gallery and the Powerhouse Gallery. 

Travis has also worked as a cartoonist/illustrator, graphic designer and  had a stint as a hotdog vendor on the streets of the Melbourne CBD.
