Legacy Fresco
"Both artists work within the arena of the photographic residue to consider how visual practices underpin ( and can undermine) the colonisation of space. They explore the liminal zone between colonised and coloniser to acknowledge their complicit awareness of economies of looking and desiring.
This series looks at the invisible social, cultural and geographical architectures of body and place we inhabit, in particular the urban, suburban and natural environments where colonial erasure and national mythologies have failed to turn space into place as Australia remains both ‘unsettling and unsettled’. Legacy Fresco dissects these material traces of post-colonial invasion - the matter that defines ownership of space and place- to manifest the failure of capitals enterprise – to try to articulate the melancholy of this (dis)location and loss."
